Kabir Lawal serves as Vice President of Claims, bringing more than 20 years of experience managing complex, multi-line claims across a broad range of coverages. He is recognized for his depth of expertise in coverage analysis, claims strategy, litigation management, reserving, negotiation, and client advocacy, as well as his ability to guide clients through high-exposure matters with sound judgment and a results-driven approach.
Over the course of his career, Kabir has held senior claims roles with Safeco, Liberty Mutual, Chubb, First Mercury Insurance, Nationwide Insurance, NiSource, and Marsh McLennan Agency. His background spans carrier, corporate, and client-facing claims environments, giving him a well-rounded perspective on the claims process and the ability to address complex matters with both technical precision and practical business insight.
Kabir has consistently delivered meaningful value to clients and organizations, including generating more than $1 million in annual client savings through complex coverage negotiations. In 2025 alone, his claims advocacy efforts contributed to settlements exceeding $20 million. He is also particularly proud of the leadership roles he played in response to the 2018 Merrimack Valley gas explosions and the 2019 Washington, Pennsylvania gas explosion.
Kabir holds a B.S. in Political Science from Chicago State University, a Mastery of Negotiation certificate from Harvard Business School Online, and the Cyber Professional Liability Practitioner designation from PLUS.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Kabir serves as Chairman of the Board of Urban Strings Columbus, an organization dedicated to recruiting, supporting, and developing young string musicians across the Greater Columbus area.
